Anxiety & Depression

A Shroud of Emptiness Encompasses You.

Sometimes,
all you can do is lie in bed and hope to fall asleep before you fall apart.

– Willliam C. Hannan

A dark and quiet bedroom – away from obligations and reminders of tasks left untouched – beneath a blanket with closed eyes is the only place that feels still.

That juxtaposition of an impossibly heavy emptiness fills your body. An unwanted charged energy peeks around the corners of your mind – a blank stare on your countenance.

Bereft of purpose, anxiety and depression have stolen your zest for life. These two imposters masquerading around in your stead have left you overturning every rock for the tiniest shred of hope.

Start Small!

Self-observation is the
first step of inner unfolding.

– Amit Ray

Look inside to understand. When did these feelings start? What have you done about these feelings in the past?

One small thing you can do today. Brush your teeth. Drink a glass of water. Take a walk around the block. The tiniest of steps, repeated day in and day out can achieve atomic results.

This race is a marathon, not a sprint. It took all the years of your life to get to this point. It took more than a day to build Rome. Anxiety and depression take time to heal. Rome wasn’t unbuilt in a day, either.

Dig Deep for the Cause.

But I think that the most likely reason of all,
may have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

– Dr. Seuss, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

Many things contribute to feelings of anxiety and depression. Look at all aspects of your life – relationships, food, sleep, work, family, hobbies, medical issues, habits.

Gain Control!

You don’t have to control your thoughts.
You just have to stop letting them control you.

– Dan Millman

Automatic negative thought loops contribute to anxiety and depression.

Like a funhouse mirror, anxiety and depression warp the lens through which you view the world. Both are convincing liars. It’s never as bad as it seems.

Some have said that laughter is the best medicine. It is a necessary component of healing.

anxiety faster than action.

– Walter Anderson
