What are your hours?
Sessions are by appointment only. My schedule changes based on needs of my clients. Most appointment times are during the day but I do have afterschool and evening hours available for those that truly need it.
How long are the sessions?
Typically, a standard therapy session lasts around 50 minutes. Sometimes situations require that sessions go a bit longer, and I’m happy to do to that (at no extra charge), provided the rest of my schedule allows for it.
How much do you charge?
My rates are competitive with private pay industry averages in the greater Milwaukee area at $150 per session.
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not. Working with insurance companies requires many hours per week that take me away from direct face-to-face time with clients. It is truly me desire to provide healing and mental health support to as many people in my community as possible.
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Fill out the form at the bottom of this page, email, call, or text me. I’ll contact you back within a day and we’ll find a time to talk to make sure we’re a therapeutic match. After that, I’ll take it from there! All of my forms are digitally signed so that we can get the healing started right from your first visit.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you can’t make your scheduled appointment (because it happens!), kindly give me at least 24 hours’ notice by email or text to avoid a late cancellation fee of $75. I charge the full session fee of $150 for no-calls and no-shows (as in, Whoops! I forgot I had an appointment!). Now look, I’m human, too, and not unreasonable. When you text or email, just let me know the honest circumstances. We will decide what is fair together.
Who do you work with?
I work with teens and adults. By people, I mean women, men, transgender, gender non-binary, gender-nonconforming, pansexual, bisexual, gay, polyamorous, and straight individuals. All cultures are welcome as well! The emotional spectrum does not discriminate… and neither do I.
What do you do in sessions?
We talk, we laugh, we cry. We discover why you are the way you are and determine what you like about you and what you don’t like. I love humor and bring it in whenever I can. My goal is to make you more insightful about your spot in life. I will make you feel seen, heard, and not alone at a time when you don’t. Feeling like crap at the beginning is part of the process. I’ll join you in those crappy feelings. Then, we’ll build you back up based on your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
How does online counseling work?
We will meet face-to-face over a HIPPA-compliant video platform. After completing all the necessary paperwork, you will receive a link to the waiting room. We will do the same things you would do in an in-person therapy session.
Grab your favorite blanket and a cup of coffee (or other non-alcoholic beverage), and snuggle into your favorite couch, chair, or bed. We’re good to go as long as it’s private and quiet!
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
Assignments, maybe. I will track how you feel. I might be a therapist by training, but I’m naturally a spreadsheet geek. Don’t worry. I won’t make you create a spreadsheet. I like data that we can measure. At the very least, I might ask you to scale how you feel each day on a scale of 1-10, and we’ll take it from there.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
A variety. People are so different, and not everyone responds to the same strategies. We’ll try some and shift gears as we identify what’s working. I’m always learning more techniques and modalities as I believe there is value in all of them, and I bring them in when I see fit, with your permission, of course!
What is your professional training and experience?
I went to graduate school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. My Masters of Arts in Community Counseling was awarded to me in 2011. I worked at an agency from 2011 to 2015 and in private practice from 2015-2024. In 2024, I opened my own private practice, housed inside of Fox Point Church. While my practice is located in a church, Christian Counseling is not a modality that I practice. Faith and spirituality are important aspects of healing, of course. However, not everyone that is in need of mental health support is Christian. And everyone deserves to have their faith and spirituality respected as an important part of their healing.
What else must a client know to make the most out of working with you?
I’m not a magician – I’m a therapist. If we meet weekly, then there are six days and 23 hours that we are not together. That means you are accountable to yourself. I work best with individuals who are motivated and ready to do the work. Of course, there are challenges – change is hard! A different therapist better serves clients who have a problem for every solution.
Who is your favorite TV or movie therapist?
None of them. What you see on TV and in movies is so unethical that a therapist would lose their license if they tried anything you see in these shows. However, if you’re asking for my favorite media that portrays therapy, no matter how unethical, I’d say Shrinking, Ted Lasso, What About Bob?, and The Ref.
Do you go to therapy?
Yes! Therapy is a transformative process that has often helped me personally.
Cats or dogs?
Plants! But seriously, I am for anything you can have in your home that you need to care for, and that tends to help with your mental health and gives you a reason for doing the work, whether you realize it or not. Cats, dogs, fish, lizards, hamsters, dust bunnies – whatever!
What do you do for fun?
I love to just be me! That means gardening, reading, watch trashy dating tv shows, cooking new and healthy recipes, coaching my daughter’s running club, and spending time with my family. I’m a simple creature, really.
I spend time with my two daughters, husband, and dog. We love to laugh, tell jokes, make up silly songs, cook, bake, and snuggle. I read a lot, reorganize things unnecessarily in my home, and constantly learn new things.
